Up and running for Games

The Australian and New Zealand head of AVANI Hotel Group says he is excited at the prospect of being operational before the 2018 Commonwealth Games after visiting the site of its first foray into the Australian market.

The $150 million The Beach Apartments project in Broadbeach, developed by Anthony Moreton Group and Pryde Group, is currently under construction by Brookfield Multiplex and will be completed in late 2017.

On completion it will be known as AVANI Broadbeach Residences, the first Australian project for the upscale international hotel brand owned by Minor Hotel Group, which has 135 hotels and resorts in 22 countries.

Minor Hotel Group Australia and New Zealand chief operations officer Mike Anderson said the company was buoyed by their entry into the Australian marketplace. “We’re very well aware of the resurgence of the Gold Coast in the Australian tourism landscape and the city’s growing connectivity to Asia,” Mr Anderson said.

“We’re strategically positioned to take advantage of this growth and it is no coincidence that AVANI’s first

project happens to be on the Gold Coast. We’re really excited at the prospect of being operational ahead of the 2018 Commonwealth Games and after viewing the site this week I can see we are ahead of schedule to make this happen,” he said.

The Beach Apartments Broadbeach will feature 219 apartments close to the beach, Broadbeach’s restaurant strip, the redeveloped Pacific Fair and Jupiters Gold Coast. It will be on the doorstep of the light rail station, connecting residents\ and guests with the city’s other key hubs of Surfers Paradise and Southport.

Anthony Moreton Group chief executive Tony Hazell said prospective buyers had been encouraged by AVANI coming on board. “This reinforces a secure future for our investors who will benefit from their apartments being managed by a global hotel leader,” he said.

“This will be Avani’s first Australian property and the brand brings an abundance of international experience to Australia and a real point of difference for investors in The Beach Apartments.”

The Beach Apartments Broadbeach will feature one and two-bedroom apartments along with ground floor food and beverage shops on the Gold Coast Highway.
